Hi!
Latest Keyman reverts to American keyboard, but all WIndows and program settings are to UK keyboard. Why is this?
And as a footnote, at last Keyman works with my XP Home setup--other than this problem. Hurray!

mcdurdin Tavultesoft Staff | Some Keyman keyboards (especially old ones) are setup as 'typewriter' or 'positional' layouts - they do not change their key positions, regardless of the system keyboard. Which keyboard are you using? You may need to ask the author to update it to support 'mnemonic layouts'.

umapati | Thanks. It's my own keyboard, and that solves the problem; and also solves my other question about the keypad numbers.
Many thanks David Smith |

Jeremy Harrison | Having hit this issue, is there any way of telling which keyboards are positional and which mnemonic (without getting Keyman developer, or by trial and error)? The two keyboards I've tried ("European Latin" and "Cyrillic Russian-Tajik") both seem to be positional (in that they revert to American keyboard, when I have Windows set to UK English).
(All freshly downloaded, with Keyman 6.2.182.0 Home Edition). Does the fact that I have a (Windows) US English keyboard also available make any difference? Thanks. |

Mr Marc Durdin Tavultesoft Staff | Jeremy: That's a good question. There is no easy way in Keyman to detect this in the current release (apart from the keyboard author documenting it). I have listed this as an issue to resolve and we will make sure it gets into the next major release.
I have also updated the European Latin keyboard to be mnemonic - a bit embarrassing to have missed that one previously! |
