I've downloaded and installed a layout. But now it seems that for every application i'm using i have to press the shortcut or go to the traybar icon and switch from the windows layout to the keyman one. How do I override the windows layout? I want to use the keyman layout all the time, i don't want to switch...
thanks

If you use the Standard Edition of Keyman, you can do this trivially through the Languages tab of Keyman Configuration - simply select the keyboard you wish to associate with each Windows language installed on your system. It is also possible to do this with the Free Home Use Edition, but it is a little more complex. You will need to go to Control Panel, Regional and Language Options, Languages tab, Details button, click the Add Button, select the language and keyboard pairing that you wish to use (e.g. English (US) in the first box and the Keyman keyboard in the second box). Then you will need to either remove the old keyboard from the list, or else make the Keyman keyboard your default by selecting it in the Default Input Language dropdown at the top of the Text Services and Input Languages dialog. Those instructions are a bit concise, and are for Windows XP. The details of this process differ for other operating systems - but the concept is pretty much the same. More information is also available in the help file, under the topic Using Keyman -> Installing Keyboards. Regards, Marc Durdin Tavultesoft Pty Ltd |

pdro809 | thanks for the answer but i still couldn't solve it.
I'm using the Free Edition. I've looked up in Help and I found what you said, control panel, regional, etc etc. But i can't find the Keyman keyboard in the second box (neither on the first one, obviously) so I can't add it. Why would this be? |

The Keyman keyboard will only be available in the second box if you installed it as an Administrator on your computer - you need to be an administrator to add a keyboard to Windows' list. (With the Standard Edition, you can install the keyboard without being administrator - because you can use the more powerful Languages tab in Keyman Configuration to setup your keyboard associations). |

thanks for your help[/quote] You need to select the Keyman keyboard (in your case 'Spanish Dvorak') from the list of keyboards - not a keyboard named 'Keyman keyboard'. Sorry for the misunderstanding. Kind Regards, Marc Durdin Tavultesoft Pty Ltd |
